Carrier oils and other natural ingredients
The following oils are best if cold pressed and even better if organic as well. When these oils are refined (not cold pressed) they are not as nourishing as they have lost their vitamins during the processing of the oils.
Sweet almond oil Prunus amygdalus var dulcis
Contains vitamins A,B & E Good for itching, dryness, inflammation, burns, thread veins and chapped hands. Good for massage.
Apricot Kernel Oil Prunus armenica
Good for most skin types, especially mature, sensitive, dry, prematurely aged and inflamed skins. It relieves the itching caused by eczema and is good for removing makeup. It has a light texture and is good for massage.
Avocado Oil Persea americana
Contains vitamins A, B, D & E. Good for skin types including dehydrated and dry skins, climate damaged, parched, undernourished and ageing skins and also good for eczema and nappy rash.
Borage Seed Oil Borago officinalis
Good for regenerating skins, psoriasis, eczema and prematurely aged skins. An excellent moisturiser
Camellia oil Camellia sinensis
Contains vitamins A, B & E. Good for dry and damaged skin, dandruff, hair and nails. It penetrates quickly.
Castor Oil Ricinus communis
This oil is lubricating and waterproofing. It is good for dry chapped skin, conditioning hair, dissolving warts, cysts, growths and softening corns.
Coconut oil Cocos nucifera
Good for dry hair and good emollient.
Evening Primrose Oil Oenothera biennis
High in GLA (a fatty acid used for skin repair). It is good for psoriasis, eczema, wounds, premature ageing, scaly skin, dandruff, hair, nails and rheumatoid arthritis.
Hazelnut Oil Corylus avellana
It contains vitamin E. It is a fast absorbing and fine textured oil. It is good for stimulating circulation, and oily skins.
Jojoba Oil Simmondsia chinensis
Is very similar to skin sebum and is absorbed very quickly and is nourishing to skins. It is good for psoriasis, eczema and hair care.
Olive Oil Olea europaea
Good for bruises, sprains, rheumatism, prevention of stretch marks in pregnancy, nail and hair care.
Pumpkin seed oil Cucurbita pepo
It contains vitamins A,C, E and zinc. It is highly emollient.
Rose Hip Seed Oil Rosa mosqueta, Rosa rubignosa, Rosa canina
It is high in GLA. It is very good for skin regeneration, aged skins, dry skin, burns, eczema, scars and wrinkles.
Sesame Oil Sesamum indicum
It contains vitamin E. It is good for psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, rheumatism and arthritis. It is a thick oil.
Shea butter Butyrospermum Parkii
It is good for eczema, psoriasis, preventing stretch marks, dry skin and regenerating skincare.
Sunflower Oil Helianthus annuus
It contains Vitamins A, B,D, & E. It is light and easily absorbed. It is good for leg ulcers, diaper rash and cradle cap. It is good for massage.
Walnut oil Juglans regia
This oil is good for eczema, sunburned skin, dry, rough and mature skin and dandruff.
Wheat germ oil Triticum vulgare
It is good for dry and cracked skin, eczema. It contains vitamins A, D & E. Do not use with wheat allergies
Infused oils- these oils are given healing qualities by infusing plant matter in a carrier oil. The healing benefits contained in the plant matter are then transferred to the oil. They consist of the following oils:
Arnica oil Arnica montana
Good for muscular injuries, injuries involving tendons and swellings
Calendula Oil Calendula officinalis
Good for wound healing, burns, eczema, broken veins, scars, bedsores and varicose veins
Carrot Oil Daucus carota
It contains vitamins A, B, C, D & E. It is good for skin rejuvenation, dry ageing skins, itching, burns and eczema. It aids in scar tissue formation.
St. John's Wort Oil Hypericum perforatum
It is good for bruises, burns, wounds, arthritis, inflammations, sciatica, neuralgia, haemorrhoids and varicose veins. Causes photosensitivity- do not apply before going out into the sun (for 12 hours).
